Meet the founder

Dr. Dhanashree Kadam

Founder | SafeMind Psychology Counselling Clinic | B.H.M.S | Certified Psychology Counsellor (NHCA) | Certified in CBT and Neuroplasticity | MBA in Healthcare & Hospital Management

My journey towards SafeMind has been a process of self-development. As an empath, I have always connected strongly to others and their struggles, caring to help them navigate through their difficulties. Yet, before being able to reach out to others, I needed to learn to listen to myself, set my boundaries, understand and nurture my needs. Only then have I been able to dedicate myself fully to serving others. With over ten years of experience, I have logged hundreds of hours listening to people’s struggles while endeavouring to create a judgement-free space for people to express their deepest fears and darkest thoughts. Over these 10 years, I have worked with children, teens, and adults, addressing various complex issues, including relationship and parent-child problems, ADHD, depression, emotional difficulties, and a sense of feeling stuck in one’s life. Drawing from my vast experience and employing a number of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, DBT, EFT, NLP, and knowledge of neuroplasticity, I offer my clients a truly integrated approach to solving their problems. I believe that being in therapy should be a comfortable, safe experience, where the client is an active participant in the process rather than being told what to do by the therapist. Today, I am humbled and truly grateful for the ability to help people all around the globe, both locally, at SafeMind in Balewadi-Baner, Pune, and internationally, via online therapy. My mission with SafeMind is to help you return to yourself, to your true self!

What is child and adolescent counselling

Child and adolescent counselling provides a safe and supportive space for children and teenagers to talk about their emotions, behaviour, relationships, academic pressure, anxiety, stress, and other challenges. Counselling is adapted to the child’s age, needs, and comfort level.

Children can start counseling as young as 3 or 4 years old, though special programs like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy can begin even earlier.

Counselling can provide support for anxiety, stress, low confidence, emotional difficulties, anger, school pressure, social challenges, behavioural concerns, family difficulties, and adjustment to life changes.

Every child’s counseling timeline depends on presenting symptoms, severity, and personality. While we love working with our clients, our goal is not to keep kids in therapy forever; rather, we are looking to teach them lasting strategies that can aid them in future challenges. Parents play a huge part in the counseling timeline, which is why we will work closely with you to continually reinforce what your child learns in therapy.

The first session focuses on understanding your concerns, goals, and background. Your therapist will explain the process and work with you to decide next steps.

Parent involvement depends on the child’s age, needs, and the nature of the concern. Where appropriate, parents may receive guidance on how to support their child outside of sessions.

You can reassure your child that counselling is a safe space to talk and that they will be listened to without judgment. Avoid putting pressure on them to share everything immediately.

You can contact SafeMind to discuss your child’s concerns and learn more about the counselling options available. The team can guide you through the appointment process and help identify suitable support.
